Im so happy and excited for you though Stephen-I know you will be successful in whatever you do!
A rundown of the events: (you knew you couldnt get away without me giving you ALL the details).
Stephen had a cookout for his friends and us on Friday afternoon and then we all headed over to the ceremony. We were a bit worried-because Matt's ceremony was soo long and HOT! The Conant High School grads are held at Franklin Pierce University in their UN Air-conditioned Field House. So during Matt's ceremony two years ago we were sitting there roasting while they went through an epic list of scholarship recipients-naming ALL of them and having each one come down to receive it-not to mention all of the speeches and listing of the grads. This was even more annoying since there was one particular person who won like all the awards and we were all like couldnt we just have him come down and list all the awards he received? That would shave like a half hour off things right there. I dont even know why they insist on giving out scholarship recipients at a commencement anyway-especially when there IS a separate ceremony just for that! Oh did I mention the people including elderly people who fainted and were taken away at Matt's grad? My grandpa and relatives were there and they just couldnt take it. They had to go outside.
But anyway, at Stephen's grad the speeches were WAY shorter-and it wasn't as hot so it didn't seem as bad. Then, toward the end the school Principal took over and started giving out scholarships himself and that made things A LOT faster! Its hard when the scholarship directors give out their own awards because they want to make speeches about their scholarship and its recipient and everyone is just like Im sorry thats great but we're BURNING UP IN HERE!!!
Anyway, Stephen's grad wasn't that bad though. It was, I think maybe even better than mine just because it was so much more relaxed and less hectic.
After the ceremony we came home and ate cake and everything of course and Stephen went out with his friends. It was a good day.
